WILA TOOLING

Heavy duty tooling with a light speed changeover

In today's manufacturing environments, shorter runs require more frequent tooling changeovers. And the more often you change press brake tooling, the more you need Wila's New Standard.

Wila is the original developer and manufacturer of the tooling with the button - the quick-change tooling that literally snaps in and out of the upper ram. When installed in combination with our hydraulic clamping system, our tooling system provides the world's fastest tooling changeovers - we guarantee it!

But quick tooling changeover is only part of the equation. Today's manufacturers also need tooling precision and longevity - and Wila tooling provides both. Our New Standard tooling segments and toolholders are CNC ground to a tolerance of ±0.00039" - the tightest tooling tolerance in the industry - using a special Chrome Molybdenum alloy for an unequaled combination of rigidity and stress absorption. Then the bending surface of each tool is laser CNC deep hardened to approximately 60 HRC, a hardness value no other tooling can duplicate. This manufacturing process produces tooling that offers more accuracy and durability than any other tooling on the market today.

Our high-quality, high-value press brake tooling provides:

Fastest Tooling Changeovers
Wila tooling changeovers are a minimum of 75% faster than conventional tooling changeovers. To remove Wila tooling, you simply switch off the hydraulic clamping system and press the buttons on the individual tooling segments to remove them from the upper ram. Then, insert the tooling segments you need for the next job, activate the hydraulic clamping, and start bending.

Many other tooling manufacturers claim to produce quick-change tooling. But Wila tooling is guaranteed to provide the world's fastest changeovers. And that translates into increased bending productivity. In short, the more you change tooling, the more you save with Wila.

Highest Degree of Accuracy
If precision is important in your shop, then Wila tooling is the logical choice. With a guaranteed tolerance of ±0.00039" on both tools and toolholders, no tooling anywhere can match our tooling's incredible accuracy. Our high-precision tooling enables your shop to perform more accurate bends and produce more precise parts, which adds value to your products and services that can't be duplicated by lesser quality shops.

Laser CNC Deep Hardening for Superior Tooling Longevity
Of course, even the most precise tools can't be considered valuable unless they last a long time - and you can count on longevity with Wila tooling. Our custom alloys and laser CNC deep hardened processes work together to produce dependable tooling that lasts significantly longer than other brands of press brake tooling. With the industry's best tooling hardness rating (approximately 60 HRC at the bending contact points) it's no wonder that our tooling has developed a reputation for standing up to years of heavy usage without significant wear.

If you're looking for improvements in your bending operation, you've clearly come to the right place. With Wila tooling and clamping systems, increased productivity is quite literally a snap.

Wila Launches American and European Precision Tooling Lines

Wila USA, renowned for its New Standard high precision quick-change Tooling, Clamping, and Crowning systems for press brakes, announces the launch of two new press brake tooling lines: Wila American Precision and Wila European Precision. Wila has incorporated many of the benefits built into its well-known New Standard tooling into the American and European style tooling. All American and European style tooling is precision ground to a maximum tolerance of .0008" (0.2mm). All these tools are CNC-deep hardened to Rockwell 52 - 60 C as standard at all critical wear points to a depth of .120" (3mm), providing extremely long durability and long lasting precision.

These two new tooling lines cover a broad range of tool types including both air and bottom bending tools, single V-dies, 2-V dies, radius tooling, offset tooling, flattening tools, tool holders and adapters, as well as accessories to prevent part marking. All of the American and European tooling is being supplied in the standard "Wila lengths"; ie 515mm / 20.276" is the longest tool section offered, making it possible for one operator to easily handle and load all tooling by himself. With Wila's standard segmented sets it is possible to make any tool length by combining segments from a minimum of 20mm / .787" to the full press brake length in 5mm / 0.2" increments.

Wila has just published a new 28 page catalog supplement covering the American Precision and European Precision tooling lines. Wila offers same day shipment on any tooling order received by 2 PM from its Columbia, Maryland warehouse.

With the addition of these two tooling lines, Wila USA is the only supplier in North America supplying all three of the press brake tooling styles in precision ground and hardened: New Standard, American, and European. No matter what type of press brake or tooling system you are using, Wila has the right precision tooling solution available.

For press brake tooling systems that offer the highest level of precision, durability, quality, and speed of set-up, specify WILA.

Give up your shimming habit

Every press brake is effected by deflection - and deflection inevitably leads to unsatisfactory bends. So, over the years, press brake operators have learned to combat the effects of deflection by shimming the press brake bed with pieces of brass or paper, in an attempt to bring the dies up to a corrected height. But, even though an experienced operator can sometimes achieve satisfactory compensation this way, the tedious, time-consuming shimming process always robs the press brake owner of valuable production time.

Fortunately, Wila has developed a better way to conquer deflection. It's called the Wila Crowning system, and it uses a patented system of graduated waves to quickly and accurately adjust the press brake's bed.

When you install the Wila Crowning system, you get:

Improved Profitability
The Wila Crowning system eliminates manual shimming, which reduces set-up time by as much as 90%. As a direct result, press brake downtime is slashed to an absolute minimum, and bending profitability can be increased dramatically.

Improved Bending Accuracy
The Wila Crowning system enables operators to achieve high-tolerance bends quickly and easily, without experiencing the frustration of constantly trying to reach tolerance by shimming and re-shimming the lower die. Because it's so easy to achieve an accurate bend with the Wila Crowning system, an operator's temptation to be satisfied with quality that is "close enough" is abated. This effect can contribute greatly to improved overall bending quality.

Reduced Scrap
When setting up a bend using the
Wila Crowning system, the operator can re-bend the original test piece after making the necessary crowning adjustment, rather than discarding it and starting over with a new test piece. Accordingly, set-up is usually accomplished with very little scrap - often with no scrap at all.

Plenty of Flexibility
Wila Crowning is highly customizable. For example, units can be adapted to accept American-style tooling, European-style tooling, or Wila tooling - all with your choice of hydraulic or manual-damping. Front support arms may also be added, and many more options are available as well.

A Broader Labor Pool
Manual shimming is a trial-and-error process that can be mastered only through years of hands-on experimentation. But with
Wila Crowning, operators can be trained to eliminate the effects of deflection in a matter of minutes, which means that less experienced workers can easily operate press brakes equipped with a Wila Crowning system.

So, are you ready to give up your shimming habit and get more bending done? Then let us know you're interested in a Wila Crowning system. Because when it comes to press brake beds, you can level with us.
