TECHNI Waterjet is a world leader in the manufacturing and development of Abrasive and water only Waterjet Cutting Technology. TECHNI is committed to providing the best of waterjet cutting machines for the metal, stone, composite, glass, and many other materials too many to mention. TECHNI Waterjets are built in
Lenexa, Kansas in their new facility which provides an extensive training area, parts supply, and manufacturing. The Techjet has been designed specifically for the very tough abrasive waterjet environment. It uses a minimum of moving parts, which have been manufactured from corrosion resistant materials. This ensures the reliability of the Techjet machines for many years after their installation. This is all backed up by highly trained service technicians, who will treat any problem you might encounter with the urgency you, the customer, requires.
TECHNI Waterjet has recently introduced the exclusive PAC60 cutting head which allows for 60 degrees of bevel cutting capabilities. View the video of the new PAC60 cutting head in action on our Videos page.

Why Waterjet? How Does It Work? What Are The Benefits?
The process of waterjet cutting is actually pretty simple. Water is pressurized to 60,000 psi by hydraulic intensification, and then forced through a small orifice in the cutting head. Inside a mixing tube, abrasive is mixed with the high pressure water, creating an abrasive waterjet stream that exits the nozzle at about 1.5 times the speed of sound. Through a combination of micro-erosion (grinding) and a shear yielding of the material a narrow section of material (called the kerf) is removed all the way through the thickness.
What can be cut? Virtually any material can be cut with abrasive waterjet cutting. Metal of all types, stainless steel, aluminum; composite materials; gaskets, foam, soft materials; stone, marble tile; large parts cutting; large volume parts; and complex contours.
Benefits of Waterjet Cutting:
- More versatile than other processes – Wide range of materials
Cuts most materials, including metals, plastics, stone, glass, foam, ceramics. Because there is no heat and no work induced stress incurred in the cutting process, almost any material is suitable for waterjet cutting.
- Thinnest sheet to over 6 inches thick
Allows stacking of materials, and cuts a variety of thicknesses, adding productivity to the cutting process
- Provides a cleaner edge with minimal post cutting processes
The non invasive cutting process generates a high quality finish looks like a fine sandblasted finish on most materials, and eliminates a majority of post process finishing.
- Fits well with other types of material processing
WaterJet, either abrasive or straight water, can be used as a partner for other processes in fabrication and machining. It even makes an excellent mate for lasers, providing superior quality on aluminum and high finish materials, as well as extending the thickness range on conventional materials such as stainless steel.
- Environmentally safe and clean
There are no chemicals, gases or noxious liquids used in the cutting process. Abrasive cutting uses garnet (a high grade sand) as the abrasive, resulting in a very clean process that is preferable to other methods of cutting in terms of environmental impact and resulting disposal of by products and waste water.
Icon Machine Tool is proud to distribute TECHNI waterjet cutting machines throughout Missouri, Illinois, Kansas, Iowa, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and Nebraska.
