PAC55 Precision 5-axis cutting head with direct drive technology
55 Degree Beveling Capability
The PAC55 is capable of producing parts with a true angle up to +/-55 deg with continuous rotation. That means that regardless of the geometry of the part to be cut, the PAC55 will produce it without having to reposition the cutting head, saving time and producing higher quality parts.
Constant Stand Off
The PAC55 incorporates Precision Terrain Mapping on the surface of the material to be cut. This information is then used to maintain an exact stand off distance between the nozzle and the work piece, resulting in more accurate parts than any other 5 axis head on the market. Other 5 axis heads set their stand off at the piercing point and then assume the work piece is completely flat along the cut path, which is almost never the case. As material flatness varies and stand off changes, so does the geometry of the part being cut, so a constant, accurate stand off is critical when angle cutting, and the greater the angle, the more critical it becomes.
Reduced Taper
The PAC55 operating software incorporates the True Cut algorithms data base, developed in conjunction with KMT to determine the predicted taper at a given surface finish. This taper is then compensated for dynamically when cutting the part, anywhere from 0 degree to 55 degrees, giving you "Precision Angle Control" of any part that can be produced on an X-Y abrasive waterjet cutting machine.

Tech-Sense - Remarkable Technology
This remarkable patented technology will dramatically
increase your profitability by reducing scrap,
increasing up-time, reducing labor and
minimizing consumables.
No longer will you require a person to stand
idle and watch a machine ‘just in case’ there
is a problem. The Tech-Sense™ will warn the
operator with an audible alarm and flashing
light if the machine is not running efficiently,
and will pause the machine if the problem could
potentially damage the part or material being cut.
When integrated with the “SMS Offsite Notification”
you are free to leave the site altogether, making “Lights
Out” operating a reality.
Potential Problems Detected:
Problem: Low abrasive being delivered to the cutting head
Possible cause - Moist abrasive, blocked feed line due to foreign particles or kinked feed hose.
Problem: Plugged focusing tube
Possible causes - Focusing tube too close to work
piece, foreign material in tube.
Problem: Damaged orifice
Possible causes - General wear or erosion, foreign particle, poor water quality.
Problem: Water pressure drop
Possible causes —Intensifier problem, high pressure hose leak, dump valve leak, cutting head leak.
Problem: Worn or damaged focusing tube
Problem: Inefficient cutting head set up
Possible causes — Too much or too little abrasive, cutting head loose, focusing tube not seated, orifice not assembled properly.

Bulk Abrasive Hopper
Abrasive waterjet cutting requires abrasive garnet to be fed to the cutting head via a Bulk Abrasive Hopper. The Bulk Abrasive Hopper is available in three standard sizes: 140 kg (300 lbs), 250 kg (550 lb), 500 kg (1100 lb). Larger sizes are also available on special order.

Abrasive Waste Removal System
Designed to take the hard work out of tank cleaning, the Abrasive Waste Removal System collects used abrasive from the cutting stream via a tray fitted to the bottom of the waterjet tank.
The abrasive slurry is then pumped to a heavy duty tipper bin mounted on a steel frame by an abrasive resistant diaphragm pump, designed specifically to handle the harsh abrasive environment. The pump includes hardened steel manifolds and long lasting santoprene bearings to withstand the abrasive slurry pumping action.
The waste garnet abrasive settles to the bottom of the bin while water is returned to the waterjet tank. The tipper bin can then be easily emptied by a forklift as required.
This is an ideal device used in conjunction with garnet recycling. To learn more about garnet recycling, visit www.garnetsales.com.
