STANDARD BRAKES AND SHEARS

Standard press brake

STANDARD BRAKE

Standard Industrial offers single cylinder, hydra-mechanical press brakes that give full tonnage throughout the stroke and most importantly full tonnage the length of the bed. The advantage of this system allows for off center loading, straight long bends, and less maintenance that with other hydraulic press brakes. Press Brakes are available from 100 to 1,000 tons with models available up to 24' in length. Up to 6 Axis CNC control is available on all models as well. All machines are built in the USA and come with a 5 year warranty.
With full tonnage throughout the stroke and more importantly throughout the entire length of the bed and ram the Standard Industrial brake has a repeatability advantage over most dual cylinder brakes. Direct dual cylinder brakes require complicated hydraulic and electrical systems to balance their tonnage and they require a vast amount of labor and parts as the machines age. Typically the customer is forced to pay exorbitant prices for the parts and labor that they can only get from the manufacturer. We at Standard pride ourselves on the fact that customers can get parts for their brake from local suppliers and the simplicity of the equipment requires only the most basic trouble shooting.

hydra-mechanical system

The hydraulic/mechanical system used by Standard is certainly a superior concept as evident by the number of manufacturers currently offering similar products. However, we have more experience in years and thousands of products designed and manufactured than any in the business. Our design experience is reflected in our size and type of bearings and shafts as well as our technical capability to design a bellcrank system that does not have excessive side loads. All forces are vertical above the ram centerline and are contained in the "box" structure that houses the drive system and ram guides.
guided slide

The ram of the press brake is guided by heavy duty slides as used in straight side presses. These slides are located both front and back of each end of the ram and are clearly superior to the small rear mounted guides found on other press brakes.
All press brakes require guides to contain end movement of the ram. Other manufacturers use tiny segmented guides incorporated in the main ram guides. The Standard design is to provide a heavy duty, self aligning system at the rear center of the ram and located inside the press frame. This system requires no operator action when the ram level is adjusted.

For tooling, we recommend Specific and Wila.

Standard shear

STANDARD SHEAR

Single cylinder, hydra-mechanical shears provide the most precision shearing ability available due to the guillotine drive system. These extremely heavy duty, 100% U.S. made shears with a 5 year warranty, range form 1/4" to1 1/4" capacities and with lengths up to 22'. We offer popular options so you can configure your shear to meet your needs.

The Standard shear gives you a massive unitized frame in a single fabrication. This frame consists of the closed end housings, upper cross members, the lower beam, and a table that together create the strongest design available on the market. The 80,000 P.S.I. steel capacity is supplied by a single cylinder hydra-mechanical drive system. This capacity is crucial to meet today’s requirements. The Standard hydraulic system is one of the most powerful on the market with a large capacity pump and valving to give the operators the most shearing tons available. This heavy duty system allows you to shear a tremendous range of steel thicknesses in a single blade gap setting. A set of large, heavy duty, single acting hold-down cylinders supply all the support required to keep the workpiece in place for the most precise cut. These cylinders automatically clamp down on the workpiece prior to the movement of the blade. Narrow material is easily sheared by two cylinders placed side by side on the right side of the shear.

Standard Industrial went to great lengths to engineer machines to be the most trouble free available on the market today. Although powerful, the hydraulic and electric systems are incredibly simple to keep downtime to a minimum. All components are made from U.S. suppliers like Square D and Vickers, and we designed them from the vendors’ stock, not specially made units just for us. Your machine will come with a manual that lists the components original manufacturer’s name and part number. This gives you the choice to buy replacement parts that are always available from Standard or from your local hometown vendor’s shelf.

The hydraulic system is designed for quiet, shockless operation to eliminate the need for special foundation requirements. The shear also comes with system overload protection to stop damage if an operator attempts to cut more than the machine’s capacity. Another standard feature is a 36” travel, PLC controlled "Go-To" backgauge with multi-level programming. This backgauge is undoubtedly the most heavy duty unit available on the market. It is also available with a 48" travel and/or with a power swingaway which brings the entire backgauge up and out of the way to shear long pieces. With a long list of other impressive options and standard features, the Standard Industrial shear will make you proud when you say that you “bought American".
